Questions, answered
Ordering, paying, delivery, returns, warranty and the lures themselves. If your question is not here, write to admin@hookefamily.com and a person will answer within one business day.
Ordering and paying
How do I place an order?
Press the Order by email button on any lure page. It opens an email to us with the lure in the subject line. Tell us how many you want and where they are going, and we reply within one business day with the total.
Can I pay by card on the website?
No. The website has no checkout. After you email us, we reply with the total and a secure payment link to a hosted payment page, and you pay there by card or the other methods it offers. We never ask for card details by email.
How long until I hear back?
Within one business day, from a person. If you have not heard from us in that time, check your spam folder and then write again; email does occasionally go astray.
Is anything charged when I send the email?
No. Nothing is charged until you choose to pay through the link in our reply. Sending the email commits you to nothing.
Can I order more than one lure at a time?
Yes. List everything you want in one email and we will quote a single total with one delivery charge.
Delivery
How much is delivery?
It depends on where you are and how much you order, so we quote it in the reply to your email rather than guessing on the site. The total in our reply is the price you pay.
Do you ship outside your own country?
Tell us where you are and we will confirm in the reply whether we can deliver there and what it costs. Any import duties or taxes charged on arrival are your responsibility and are not included in our total.
How will I know it has shipped?
We email you when the order leaves, with whatever tracking the postal service provides for that route.
What if it arrives damaged?
Reply to your order email with a photo of the damage within seven days of delivery and we will send a replacement or refund you in full, your choice. You do not need to send the damaged lure back unless we ask.
Returns, refunds and warranty
Can I return a lure?
Yes, within thirty days of receiving it, provided it is unused and in its packaging. Email us first so we can tell you where to send it. Return postage is yours to pay unless the lure was faulty or we sent the wrong item.
How are refunds paid?
To the same payment method you used through the payment link, within seven days of the return arriving with us. The refund policy page has the detail.
What does the warranty cover?
Manufacturing defects for twelve months from delivery: paint that lifts without impact, hook hangers or split rings that fail, a hard bait that will not run straight from new. It does not cover damage from fish, snags, rocks, rust from being stored wet, or hooks you have changed yourself.
How do I make a warranty claim?
Reply to your order email with a photo of the problem and a sentence about what happened. We answer within one business day and, if it is a defect, send a replacement.
The lures
Why do you only make six?
Because we finish every one ourselves and six is what we can keep in stock and keep consistent. Each covers a different job; none of them duplicates another.
How many worms are in a pack?
Eight. The Ribbontail is the only lure sold in a pack; the five hard baits and the spinnerbait are sold singly.
Do the lures come with hooks?
The four hard baits come with treble hooks fitted and the spinnerbait has its single hook built in. The Ribbontail worm is unrigged; you fish it on your own hook or jig head.
Which lure should I start with?
For most waters, the Dawnline 60 crankbait in summer or the Ribbontail worm when fishing is slow. If you tell us the water you fish and what you are after, we will give you a straight answer, even if it is not one of ours.
Do you sell rods, reels or line?
No. We make lures only. The rod, reel and line guide tells you what to pair each lure with.
The website and contact
Do you have a shop I can visit?
No. We sell only through this website, by email.
Does the website track me?
No. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads no advertising or tracking scripts. The only third-party request it makes is for its two typefaces from Google Fonts.
How do I contact you?
By email at admin@hookefamily.com, or on X at @hookefamily. Those are the only two channels; there is no phone line and no contact form.
