Privacy policy
This is short because we collect very little. The website itself collects nothing. The only personal information we hold is what you put in an email to us, and this page explains what happens to it.

Who we are
Hooke Family, the operator of hookefamily.com, reachable at admin@hookefamily.com. We are the controller of any personal information described on this page.
The website
hookefamily.com is a set of static pages. It has no accounts, no login, no forms and no shopping cart. It sets no cookies, uses no analytics, and loads no advertising, tracking or social-media scripts. It does not record your IP address or your visit in any way we can see; our hosting provider keeps ordinary server logs for security and operations, which we do not access for any other purpose.
The one external request the site makes is to Google Fonts, to load the two typefaces the pages use. That request carries your IP address to Google in the ordinary way any web request does, and is covered by Google's own privacy policy. Nothing else on the site leaves our domain.
What we receive when you email us
Everything on this site that leads to an order or a question is a link that opens an email from you to us. When you send one, we receive whatever you put in it. For an order that is usually:
- Your email address and the name your email client attaches to it.
- What you want to order.
- The delivery address you give us.
- Anything else you choose to write.
We do not receive your payment card details. Payment happens on a hosted page run by our payment provider, who handles card data under their own policy. What we see from them is that a payment was made, the amount, and the last few digits of the card for matching refunds.
Why we use it
- To reply to you.
- To quote, confirm, pack and send your order, and to tell you it has left.
- To handle returns, refunds and warranty claims, which means being able to find your order later.
- To keep the financial records the law requires of anyone who sells things.
We do not use your information for marketing. We do not send newsletters, and we do not add you to any list. If you email us, you hear from us about that email and nothing else.
Who sees it
- The postal or courier service that carries your order sees your name and delivery address, because it has to.
- Our payment provider sees what is needed to take the payment, and receives your email address for the receipt it sends.
- Our email provider stores the messages, as any email provider does.
We do not sell, rent or give your information to anyone else, and we do not share it with advertisers. We would disclose it only if the law required us to.
How long we keep it
Order correspondence, including your address, is kept for twenty-four months after the order so that we can honour the warranty and handle any return or dispute, and then deleted. Financial records of the transaction are kept for as long as tax law requires. A question that does not lead to an order is deleted twelve months after the last message in the thread.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and we will do so within thirty days unless a legal record-keeping obligation prevents deletion, in which case we tell you what we must keep and why. If you live in a place with specific privacy law, such as the European Union or United Kingdom under GDPR, or California under the CCPA, you have those statutory rights in full and can exercise them by email. We will not treat you differently for doing so.
To make any request, write to admin@hookefamily.com from the address you used to contact us, so that we can be sure the request is yours. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you have the right to complain to the data protection authority in your country.
Children
This site sells fishing hooks and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly take orders from anyone under the age of eighteen; if you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published here with a new date at the top. We do not have a list of visitors to notify, so this page is the notice.
