How to fish it
The Longcast is a suspending jerkbait. Cranked down, it sits at depth when you stop; it neither floats up nor sinks away. That single property is what the lure is for: a fish that follows a moving bait and turns off will very often eat one that stops dead in front of it.
Twitch, pause, repeat. Point the rod tip low and to the side. Give two or three sharp, short twitches with slack in the line, so the lure darts and turns rather than just pulling forward, then stop. The pause is the important part. In warm water two seconds is enough; in cold water, count to ten and then wait some more. Strikes come on the pause, and they feel like weight rather than a hit, so lift when the line moves.
Slack is the trick. A twitch on a tight line drags the lure toward you. A twitch on a slack line snaps it sideways and lets it glide. Keep enough slack that the rod tip moves before the lure does.
Where. Clear water, points, drop-offs and the edges of flats, particularly in spring and autumn when fish are neither deep nor shallow. It is the lure to throw when the water is too cold for a crankbait to make sense.
Colour. Blue back over a spotted silver flank is a baitfish imitation for clear to lightly stained water. It carries flash without being loud.

Care
Suspension depends on the hooks and split rings fitted; if you change either for a different size, test the lure in the margin before you fish it. Rinse after use, dry the trebles, and keep the lure flat in the box so the bill is not bent by a lid. See the hooks guide for point care.
